Josh Haarman and Owen McLain took a 1-2 in the slalom as St. John’s Prep captured the MIAA State Alpine Ski title Tuesday afternoon at Wachusett Mountain.

Haarman won the individual slalom title in a time of 45.71, followed by McLain (46.49). Brookline’s Rohan Brown took third (46.70) and Ashland’s Tyler Zilinski was fourth (46.85).

Zikinski won the grand slalom title with a time of 53.53, with McLain taking a second (53.57) and Hamilton-Wenham’s Will Harrington was third (53.77).

On the girls side, Masconomet took the team title with Mohawk Trail and Lincoln-Sudbury rounding out the top three. Pittsfield’s Eliza Mullen won both slalom (46.70) and grand slalom (54.91).

BOYS BASKETBALL

Raphel Laurent scored 21 points and Anthony Forte added 19 to power No. 28 Peabody (19-2) past No. 37 Belmont, 50-43 in a Div. 1 preliminary round contest.
