Women’s basketball: Williams leads Wisconsin past Gophers

Sophomore standout Serah Williams was dominant with 30 points and 15 rebounds as Wisconsin built a substantial first-half lead and glided past Minnesota 67-56 in a Big Ten Conference women’s game Tuesday night at Williams Arena.

The Gophers (15-11, 5-10 Big Ten) had three players score in double figures, led by Amaya Battle, who had 16 points and five assists. Janay Sanders added 11 points and Ayianna Johnson helped out with 11 points and seven rebounds in her first career start.

Sania Copeland contributed 12 points and D’Yanis Jimenez added 10 for the Badgers (13-12, 6-9 Big Ten), who surged to a 39-24 halftime lead and built the lead up to 19 before coasting to victory.
