The MG ZS breaks into the Greek Top 10 for the first time.

The Greek new car market starts the year with a bang in 2024, with sales up 21.1% to 12,752. This is all the more impressive that January 2023 was already up 90.7% on the year prior. Strikingly the Top 4 carmakers all beat the market. Toyota (+67.1%) is up one spot on December to reclaim the pole position it held over the Full Year 2023, Peugeot (+35.6%) is back up 17 ranks on the previous month to #2, Citroen (+24.1%) up 15 to #3 and Suzuki (+77.4%) is the most dynamic of all at #4. Note it ranked #1 last month. #1 a year ago, Opel (-34%) falls to #5, followed by Hyundai (-29.6%) and Volkswagen (-17.7%) but also struggling. BMW (+195.5%), Skoda (+187.3%) and Nissan (+48.5%) close the Top 10 in spectacular fashion. Chinese Voyah makes its entrance in the charts with a single sale.

Model-wise, the Citroen C3 (+38.4%) passes the 1,000 monthly unit mark for the first time, reaching 8.3% share, its best since June 2012 (8.4%). It ranks #1 for the 4th time in the past 12 years alongside May, June and July 2012 and February 2023. Leader for 10 years before being toppled in 2023, the Toyota Yaris (+45.7%) is back up to #2 with a very strong 7.4% vs. 4% over the Full Year 2023. The Peugeot 2008 (+111.3%) shoots up to #3 vs. #9 in FY2023 while the leader of last year, the Opel Corsa (-50%) is hit hard at #4. Below the Suzuki Vitara (+83.4%) and Peugeot 3008 (+47.6%), the MG ZS surges 29 spots to break into the Greek Top 10 for the first time at #7, with a previous best of #22 last October.
