Women’s basketball: Gophers fall at Rutgers
Mya Petticord had 25 points and Destiny Adams had 21 as Rutgers broke away in the second half to beat Minnesota 81-73 in a Big Ten women’s basketball game Tuesday night in Piscataway, N.J.
Gophers freshman Grace Grocholski made a career high seven 3-pointers, and totaled 23 points, but Minnesota (14-10, 4-9 Big Ten) fell at Jersey Mike’s Arena despite being tied at 27 at the half.
Minnesota’s Sophie Hart chipped in with 17 points and seven rebounds, while Amaya Battle tallied seven points, eight rebounds, 10 assists and two steals.
The Minnesota defense turned 15 Rutgers turnovers in 16 points on Tuesday while holding the advantage in second-chance points, 21-10.
