Photos: Red Bull Heavy Metal snowboard contest shreds in St. Paul on Capitol steps
It wasn’t the usual crowd outside the Minnesota State Capitol on Saturday as snowboarders took on the Red Bull Heavy Metal snowboard contest.
Although snow was lacking around St. Paul, the Capitol steps were coated enough to send the athletes — and their hats — soaring. The single-day urban snowboarding event offered a variety of unique obstacles and rails, and featured a mix of veteran snowboarders and up-and-coming talent from North America and Europe.
A broadcast of the competition is scheduled to air on ESPN2 on Feb. 25.
