Red Sox announce spring training broadcast schedule

Red Sox fans will once again have the opportunity to follow a majority of the club’s spring training games, though not quite as many on TV as last year.

The Red Sox announced Friday that 23 of the club’s 36 spring exhibition games will be televised, including 22 on NESN and NESN+ and one on ESPN. In addition, WEEI will carry 30 games over the radio, including 17 on WEEI 850 AM and 13 on WEEI 93.7 FM.

All games broadcast on NESN or NESN+ can also be streamed in New England via NESN 360.

This spring’s television slate represents a slight reduction from last year, when 28 out of 34 exhibition games were televised, but between TV and radio almost all of this spring’s games will be available in some form. There are only four games not scheduled for broadcast, and all four are road games on split squad days when the broadcast crews will be covering the home game.

Among the highlights of the spring, the annual Northeastern exhibition on Feb. 23 will be available only on NESN, and the March 7 game against Atlanta will be broadcast by ESPN. Each of Boston’s two games against Tampa Bay in the Dominican Republic (March 9-10) will be carried by NESN and WEEI 93.7 FM, and the Spring Breakout prospect showcase on March 16 will be carried by both networks as well.
