Gophers add nation’s top-ranked long snapper to recruiting class

The Gophers football program had great success with long snapper Brady Weeks over the last five seasons and look to keep that sterling streak going with Alan Soukup.

Minnesota signed Soukup on national signing day on Wednesday. He was the only addition to the U’s incoming class, and he comes highly rated.

Soukup, of Phoenix, is ranked the No. 1 long snapper in the country, according to Kohl’s Professional Camps. He was named to the Under Armour All-America Game and had scholarship offers from Southern Cal, Houston and Indiana, according to 247sports.

Soukup will succeed Weeks, a senior who played in a school-record 59 games from 2019-23.
