Lucas: Joe Biden’s weakness hands Iran a win
Americans need not worry about a pending war with Iran.
That’s because Iran is already at war with the United States, though Joe Biden will not acknowledge it.
And Iran is winning.
Anybody with a half a brain knew that it was only a matter of time before Iranian-backed proxy terrorists would kill an American soldier in the Mideast, and now they have.
They killed three soldiers after Biden refused to seriously retaliate when terrorists previously attacked U.S. bases in the region 165 times, wounding scores of Americans.
The three U.S soldiers killed by an Iranian drone are Sgt. William Jerome Rivers, 46, Spc. Kennedy Ladon Sanders, 24, and Spc. Breonna Alexsondria Moffett, all of Georgia.
They were killed at a base in Northeast Jordan last Sunday where some 350 Army and Air Force personnel are stationed. Some 35 soldiers were wounded. It was the biggest attack on U.S. military personnel since 13 U.S soldiers were killed by terrorists at the Kabul airport during Biden’s mangled pullout of Afghanistan in 2021.
Like the unanswered attack on Sunday, no one was held accountable for the Kabul attack either.
The Iranian mullahs, whose goal is to destroy Israel and rid the region of Americans, seem to have Biden’s number. To Iranian Supreme Leader Seyyed Ali Khamenei, Joe Biden is a feeble president.
Despite repeated and largely unanswered attacks on U.S bases in the region, Biden continued to turn the Americans stationed in various bases throughout the region into target practice for the Iranian-backed terrorists.
Like the withdrawal in Afghanistan, which was the first of his reckless military actions — and the death of 13 Americans — Biden is also personally responsible for the deaths of the three American soldiers at the base in Jordan.
It is hard to believe that he did not understand that a weak response to prior attacks would only embolden Iran and would eventfully lead to the killing of American military personnel.
“Don’t,” Biden warned Iran about escalating military action in the region upon the start of the Israeli-Hamas war in Gaza. He said it four times and the Iranians still ignored him.
Now, after three American soldiers have been killed, Biden said, “We shall respond,” which, if his record is any guide, will probably be akin to his previous ineffective responses to Iranian proxy aggression.
He might even bow to Khamenei, like Barack Obama used to do, and implore the Iranian leader for a cease-fire. Donald Trump would take bold action.
Here is what our leaders at the White House said to warn the Iranian leaders about what they would do to Iran:
Biden, “We will hold those responsible to account at a time and in a manner of our choosing.”
Secretary of State Antony Blinken: “We will respond decisively to any aggression, and we will hold responsible the people who attacked our troops. We’ll do so at a time and place of our choosing.”
Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin” We will respond at a time and place of our choosing.”
Admiral John Kirby of the National Security Council: “We will respond at a time and place of our choosing.”
They sound like a bunch of lawyers who want to take Iran to court instead of duking it out.
Those three American soldiers would be alive today if Biden, like fellow weak horse Obama before him, had not rolled over for the Iranians in the first place.
It is good that Biden is finally going to respond. Better late than never.
But let’s see if Biden, an old political shadow boxer, has a decent punch left in him.
